How Do You Want to Be Remembered When You Leave This World?

A lot of us don’t think about this since we’re focused on our day-to-day lives. But this week my husband, my daughter and I want to say our goodbyes to “Pa-Pa.” He was my husband’s grandpa, and his full name is Paul Barbarin Sr.

While I was at the funeral service, I got the opportunity to meet some people that Pa-Pa had mentored. All of the people he helped said the same thing; that he was the type of man who showed them how to be a good husband and a good father, a good friend and some of them even said that he would treat them like his own kids. A lot of the men that said these things about Pa-Pa did not have a father figure in their lives; Paul became their father figure. And some of these people were neighborhood kids that are now grown men.

Wow…this all made me wonder about my own legacy. I finally realized that I would like my legacy to be that I loved God’s people, inspired, and give all people hope when I was here.

Talking about in legacy, I also have an opportunity to interview Bishop Ed Smith this week on my radio show at KK LA. I invited Ed to be my guest because I want to get Bishop’s perspective on what the Bible says about our legacy.
