Let us all celebrate and honor fathers in our life

No matter what your relationship is with your father it’s a great thing when you take the time to honor him. We all have different stories and different backgrounds. But we also must remember that no one is perfect. I challenge everyone to make this Father’s Day the best by acknowledging and honoring their own father, if at all possible. And if not, how about a special father you know of?

As a believer, one of the Commandments the Bible talks about honoring your father and mother. If you had a father who made poor decisions in life then the burden is upon you to somehow find a way to honor that man, and that may mean that you need to humble yourself. Now that I am a parent myself, I realize how important it is to honor my father on Father’s Day. And to honor my husband, my father in-law, and my brother in-law. Celebrating every father in our lives and in our community is worthwhile and it does not take much to make someone feel special.

Please listen to my interview with my Papa, Dr. Edouard Zoutmou. This Saturday June 19th I will be honoring my father, who has been such a blessing in my life. It couldn’t have been easy for him growing up as he was raised by a single mother. Still, he persevered, working hard in school to get a scholarship to come to go to school in the United States. It was not easy for him to learn the language, but he was able to get a masters and a doctorate in engineering. His motivation was always to be able to be a blessing to his kids and help his community. After retirement, he is back to Africa helping his community there. I am praying and hoping that one day in the next 4 years that he will be the next president of our county, Guinea (Conakry.)
