How can we fight for the voiceless?

I always ask myself “How I can stand up for someone else who is struggling to find the conviction to self-advocate?”

I know sometimes it’s hard to stand up for someone you know but is perhaps not your best friend, or to fight for a stranger. In my private life I’ve done this; without getting into the details, my decision came with a cost, but I was later able to confirm that quite a bit of good came from the choice I made. There are other ways to help out people who are still in the process of finding their voice which involve less risk. For me, I’ve hoped that my anti-bullying books (I Will Not Be Bullied, I Will Not Bully Others) will serve as a guide for parents who want to make sure that their children are not victimized by bullying and will learn to find their voice and self-actualize in the moments which matter most.

This week on the program I spoke to Jy wright, a film producer. He is a producing a short film about child trafficking, which is in the process of being submitted to a film festival. I think he is an amazing person and the work he’s doing is worthy of our support. He did a Kickstarter program to raise money to do his production and he quickly reached his goal within two weeks. I’m so excited for Jy’s interview to be aired this Saturday. The movie is called Can You See Me? If you would like to support his project, please email him at
