Eleven days before Christmas and a lot of us are worried about things that we cannot control. When we do this we are adding so much stress to our lives!
Sometimes we think about things that will not help us feel joy in our life. For those who feel a deep attachment to the holidays it’s only natural to want to buy EVERYONE a wonderful gift. That’s just not practical, and if and when you see that you can’t get all of your friends and relatives a $100 gift you should not feel guilty. Focusing on the things we can’t do during the holidays will only serve to dampen that holiday spirit. What is more important at this time, gift giving, or love and friendship?
One of the most important things we can do during the Holiday times is to focus on the things we can control and the things that will empower us. We may not be able to give that special expensive gift to every single person, but there are other ways we can show love. I find my joy by having one hour for myself every morning to read my Bible, exercising for 30 minutes, meditate, and do my self-care. My weekends are spent with my family and in finding ways to help others in the community. My mentor found a great way to donate her time during Thanksgiving, and it inspired me to think of my own way of sharing this Christmas.
I had an opportunity to interview James Richardson on my radio show this week. Wow, what an inspirational person, after you hear James’ story you will find reasons to be thankful and find joy every day in your life. James’ story is one of a kind, it made me think about my life in a different way. This is someone that face challenges every day in his life, but he chose to focus on being a blessing to others instead of himself. James has an illness and was told that he would only live until he was 19 years old. Now he is 27 years old! He is still here with us and living his dreams and being a blessing to the world. Please tune in to listen to James’ wonderful story December 19 at 4:30 PM on 99.5 KKLA. “You Are Being Tested, Do Not Worry” is aired Saturdays at 4:30 PM and the program is also broadcast on KKLA.com, KKLA App, iHeart Radio, Tuneineradio.com, Christianradio.com, and Alexa Smart Speaker.
